“What do you mean?” Kota asked. “Isn’t distance, well, distance?”
“It is,” Andrew replied. “But look at it this way. Walking from point A to point B, I get there in a certain amount of time. If I run the same distance, I get there faster. But, if I go that same distance following the magnetic lines of force, I can get there instantaneously.”
“Huh? I’m confused. How can you get anywhere instantaneously?”
“Look at where you are now,” Andrew continued, “you’re just standing here, but you’re traveling simultaneously. You’re traveling through time. Each second that goes by takes you from point A to point B in time. But because you’re not moving, you’re reaching that destination instantaneously. Now, if you could suspend time around you and move, say, from the POD to the kitchen, then start time again, to you, it would have taken a minute or two, but to those around you, it would be immediate. And because you’ve suspended time, you wouldn’t have aged.”
