Author Biography

Drew Bankston lives in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two amazingly perfect dogs, and a garden.

Before he started writing science fiction, Drew received his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Ag Sciences from Colorado State University. After that, just to shake things up, he never really used that degree but worked various jobs in retail and Asset Protection with some really important people who are way too dignified to be named here. He’s still working but would eventually like to write full-time and stop working for other people. He likes pie and chocolate, as everyone should.

Magic or Real?

As new things are invented in this world, the products can almost seem magical. Andrew, as an amateur scientist creating some never-before-seen devices, his neighbor and long-time friend, at first, thinks it's magic. A frustrated Andrew tries to convince his friend that no magic is involved and becomes very frustrated in the process. “Oh. Okay. Sorry,” Matt put his index finger up to his mouth and looked around. “I know how you magician types are. You prefer to call them illusions.”
Andrew ran his fingers through his hair. “It has nothing to do with magic and is not an illusion.”
Matt shrugged. “Okay, buddy. Whatever you say. I’ve just seen things like this on TV a million times. Where are the wires?”
“No! Not whatever I say. There are no wires! It’s real. I floated in the air utilizing the earth’s magnetic field.” Andrew’s voice was rising, and so was his blood pressure.
Matt again placed a finger to his lips. “Shhhhhhhh. Remember, a good magician never gives away his secrets.”
