Andrew tinkers in his garage each weekend, buying strange-looking devices from a local college surplus store and working on things he only minimally understands. It’s this lack of understanding, however, that allows Andrew to discover things no one else could imagine.

Mistakes and accidents lead Andrew to places he never thought he could go, taking his friends on perilous journeys and finding world changes in other dimensions he could never imagine would be real!

Author Biography

Drew Bankston lives in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two amazingly perfect dogs, and a garden.

Before he started writing science fiction, Drew received his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Ag Sciences from Colorado State University. After that, just to shake things up, he never really used that degree but worked various jobs in retail and Asset Protection with some really important people who are way too dignified to be named here. He’s still working but would eventually like to write full-time and stop working for other people. He likes pie and chocolate, as everyone should.

Another Life

In this scene, Andrew realizes he just switched dimensions. He's in his home, surrounded by the people he knows, but those people have changed. He has known them all his life, but now feels as if he doesn't know them at all. Nothing he remembers from this day is correct and it's about to drive him crazy. “I didn’t know you were coming over,” Andrew grumbled.
“Yes, you did!” Matt insisted.
“You did, Andrew,” Susie said.
Andrew looked at Julie. She nodded.
“I don’t remember any of this.” He thought hard about the situation. “Okay, let me ask you this!”
“Ask me what?” Julie sighed.
“If we were supposed to go out, then what about the girls?”
“I’m assuming you mean our little girls?” Julie teased.
“Of course, that’s who I mean,” Andrew replied. “Who else would I mean? If we were going out, we would have found someone to babysit.”
“Hey, Mr. B,” Kota, the 18-year-old girl from down the street, appeared behind Susie. “I’m here to babysit. Sorry, I’m a little late.”
