Permac’s voice sounded pained, despite his effort to cover it up.
And she noticed he hadn’t answered her second question.
“What happened to me?” she repeated, and he looked away, face shielded in the dark. “Did I pass out or something?”
“Yeah, that’s it.”
“Liar,” she growled. “I’ve never fainted in my life.”
