“Ah, welcome back. And you’ve brought Linsora. I’m Gordek.” The man was as tall as Permac, perhaps twenty years older. His gray-streaked, close-cropped hair showed his age, and his eyes did not seem like those of a man accustomed to smiling.
He extended his hand to Linsora. Linsora offered her own, still sticky with residue from the last bit of candy she’d captured from the now-empty bag.
“You are the suspicious one,” Gordek said. He enclosed her hand in both of his.
“It’s my nature,” Linsora said coldly, yanking away her hand, leaving much of the stickiness on Gordek’s damp palm.
