“Mr. Khizaran.” Barthis swiveled around to face Permac. “I never did get your name, but it doesn’t matter. As you can see, we’re leaving.”
“Well, it’ll be a shame to see you leave. I hope you have a pleasant trip home,” Permac said sarcastically. “So, what now? Do you expect me to go back and report that Carratians were here but have all gone away?” Permac asked. “You think anyone would believe that?”
“I didn’t say you were being released, did I?” Barthis said. “I still want the same answers to the same questions. You’re being turned over to someone better able to get those answers. I’ll even be gracious enough to feed you first.”
“Providing a last meal, Captain? How kind.” Permac bowed slightly.
“Indeed.” Barthis grinned. “I will even be willing to feed the woman, but she will not be released. I believe the Carratian authorities might be interested in her. Say your farewells over dinner.”
