A wave of energy swept past her. It was as like standing at the edge of a fast flowing river. She could dip a foot in and feel the strength of the current. At the surface, it wasn’t strong enough to carry her away, but if she waded in farther, she would be swept up. She wrenched her mind back to herself.
Gordek trembled. His eyes were wide, his face as pale as death. Odder still, and frightening, his eyes were purple. “It can’t be you. You’re not strong enough yet!”
