Wires connected to the machines above dangled in front of them and wrapped around their feet. They stumbled forward. The only light came from the hole as the pulses of light accelerated. Finally, as though with satisfaction, the hole in the floor was detected. The blast of an energy beam singed and widened the area surrounding the hole in the floor. “I'll call Haavens. Maybe he can break in and turn that thing off,” Permac shouted.

Another blast and debris peppered their heads. In the silence and darkness that followed, both Linsora and Permac stopped.
