Linsora’s head ached. Her body hurt. She was propped against the wall of a well-lit cave, her hands tied behind her back. The cave was humid and smelled of mildew. At least it’s big, she thought. Someone was calling her name. She struggled to turn around. Three other bodies were on the floor not far from her, all of them with their hands bound. One was Permac.
“Linsora!” he whispered. “Are you all right?”
“What’s my assistant’s name?”
“What?” Permac looked at her like she had lost her mind.
“My assistant on the Dominator. What’s her name?” Linsora was persistent.
“You mean Denub? Why? We’re tied up and need to get out of here!” Permac grumbled.
“I needed to know it was really you. I had the displeasure of meeting someone who looked like you just before I was dumped here.” Linsora looked around the room. “Do you sense anyone else here besides us?” she asked. “Is that Karak and Tayla over there?”
“I think so. I don’t sense anyone else here,” he said. “What happened?”
“I was going to ask you the same thing.”
