Sammi Jo hung up the phone and began to dance around the room in excitement! She ran to the bed to hug Jack who was grinning a big boxer grin at her. He had no idea what she was so excited about, but knew that his human was happy, so he would be happy, too!
“We are going to Australia for Christmas!” she shouted. “The water is warm there in December since their seasons are the opposite of ours, and if we can get our friends from Edenlandia to make the trip, we will be able to see them before next summer!”
She quickly ran to the window to see if Peppah was still around, but he was long gone. She would just have to wait for the next time to send the amazing news to Screech…
“Come on Jack!” she shouted as she quickly put on her shoes, “Let’s go find the others and let them know the good news!”
They both went running from the room, slamming into several people in their haste to get to the gym to find Jase and Riley, who had been watching the basketball game. It appeared as if the game must be over since there were so many people in the halls.
“’Scuse me, ‘scuse me,” she called over her shoulder as she continued to run through the halls with Jack, bouncing off all the other students in the hall like a ping pong ball! Jack thought it was a huge game and contributed to the mayhem by eagerly slobbering all over everyone that Sammi Jo managed to knock down!
She finally found Jase and Riley talking to some other students outside the gym and hurriedly rushed up to them to tell them the fantastic news.
“We’re going to Australia for Christmas!” she burst out, completely oblivious to the fact that she was interrupting their conversation.
“Oops, sorry for interrupting,” she added as an afterthought, “But, we are going to Australia!”
“What are you talking about?” replied both Jase and Riley in unison.
“I just got a call from Mom and Dad! Dad has a new book contract researching the sea life around Australia. They thought it would be perfect to do it over our Christmas break so that we could go with them!”
“Isn’t that a really long way away?” questioned Riley.
“Yeah, SUPER far! But that means that they have opposite seasons from us, so it will be summer there and we can swim in the ocean. We might be able to see Screech while we are there instead of needing to wait until next summer when we go to the cottage!” Sammi Jo was talking so fast she was out of breath.
