Daddy’s Little Girl
Saree was a girl in the local high school. Her dad put her in that school
because they actually educated the girls that attended there. Saree’s father
was a soldier in Saddam’s army. He served the Baath Party from a young
age. His father before him was a loyal soldier to Saddam. His name was
Zamir. Although Zamir worked for Saddam, he knew all this brutality
could only last so long. Zamir never had a son, so he wanted his daughter
to be educated. He believed one day Iraq would be free. Zamir didn’t
understand why his dad would come home upset so many nights. When
he began to serve Saddam’s force, he began to understand more why his
father had become so emotionally unstable. He had seen men, women,
and children tortured in front of him over and over. Zamir saw a man who
opposed Saddam strapped to a metal pole. He was electrocuted over and
over. The man electrocuting prisoners was trying to get info on other anti-
Baath freedom fighters
