Alexandria followed the footpath to Miller’s lake being careful not to twist her ankles. The understated path was the only way to her secret place, to her home, her sole contact with the mythological world. She visited the lake with regularity. Beneath the lake, captive, was Nerites the one-time companion and lover of Aphrodite. Long ago he had refused to follow her to Mount Olympus and be her life-long lover.
