Beneath the lake, captive, was Nerites the one-time companion and lover of Aphrodite. Long ago he had refused to follow her to Mount Olympus and be her life-long lover.
Alexandria was also exiled when Aphrodite discovered she had fallen for his beauty and seduced him. Upon her departure from Mount Olympus, Alexandria captured Nerites and brought him to the mortal world where she planned to use him as leverage over Aphrodite to secure her return home.
