The thought of a journey can get our adrenaline rushing. We spend hours researching and reading the reviews of the places we want to see, checking prices, dreaming. There is great excitement in the planning process. But what if this is our greatest journey? What if we were to experience life as one big adventurous trek—or better yet, a series of many beautiful excursions and expeditions? It may sound cliché to call life our greatest journey, but what if it is true? What if we were to engage all the preparatory energy and excite ment we would normally devote to a holiday and instead use that energy and excitement to explore our own life and our deep, fundamental relationship with it?
We may know how our lives began, but we most definitely don’t know how our lives will end. Whether you’re longing for more in life, or simply find yourself feeling stuck, I hope this book series sparks your adventurous spirit to explore the vast opportunities at your disposal. I hope it will help you realize what’s possible so you can create your own path in a world that constantly tries to mold you into someone else’s story.
Just like when you’re thinking about destinations, there are a few timelines to consider. The old timeline leads us back to the past, and our most recent collective and individual past is filled with suffering, competition, financial and career success, polarization, blame, judgment, greed, and pain. We’ve created the physical separation between being safe indoors and venturing outdoors, where we’re told it’s often dangerous. If we weren’t so busy, we’d see the opportunity to become increasingly aware that there is another path waiting for us to trek into the unknown. There is an emerging timeline that offers us bridges to transition to, which include curiosity, self-awareness, compassion, kindness, trust, meaning, play, joy, unity, and cooperation—and a deep connection to nature and her holistic intelligence.
