Melekh desperately sought the power to dominate the world, but one individual stood firmly in his way—a woman with a magical bracelet he longed to claim. Determined, he would stop at nothing to get it and wear its power. Today, humanity has become obsessed with possessions and vanity, driven by a desire for anything that shines or appears valuable. This obsession often leads people to harm others over objects that, in reality, hold no actual worth. We are consumed by greed and pride, willing to seize what isn’t rightfully ours. A story from the Bible illustrates this tendency vividly. King Ahab coveted Naboth’s vineyard—a piece of land in his family for generations. When Naboth refused to sell it, Ahab’s response was dishonorable; he was so determined that he plotted to take it by wrongful means. His wife, Jezebel, known for her wickedness, arranged for deceitful men to kill Naboth, allowing Ahab to seize the estate. Tragically, Ahab himself met his end in the very place where Naboth’s blood was spilled, just as the prophet Elijah had foretold—dogs licking his blood as a grim reminder. The moral of this story is clear: don’t covet what belongs to others. The Tenth Commandment explicitly warns against this: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house... or anything that belongs to your neighbor” (Exodus 20:17).
