Chaos erupted as barking dogs filled the air, screams pierced the stillness, and people dashed from the lake. As I peeked over the brick wall, my anxiety lingered. I saw nothing, but I was sure a sound or something terrified my neighbors enough that they fled. Something lurking in the water filled my neighbors with fear, prompting their unexpected departure from the beach. The water roared and crashed, reaching heights above the average. Despite the circumstances, many neighbors defied the odds and continued their routine, taking their dogs for a walk along the beach.
Fierce wind gusts carried the unsettling energy of panicked and confused voices. With each air gust, sky-to-ground lightning bolts flashed across the heavens.
A robust breeze wailed with an unmistakable foreboding, hinting at an impending storm. My fingers fastened around the armrest as the forceful breezes whipped against my skin, bringing respite to the sultry air. Over the canopy, lights tinkled and swayed. Unmarked, sleek, black police hovercrafts raced across the sky with a hum, increasing my panic that something forbidden existed in the airspace.
