“Brad, it’s Sophia. I read your findings, and I believe I have found a solution. I am sending a copy of my notes. Before you leave for Texas, please check the water in Michigan once again.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll investigate further. I had just fallen asleep. Did you read the research paper?”
“Yes, that’s the reason I called. I am troubled by how the disease spreads along the Gulf Coast. What I discovered is appalling so far. The water samples exposed the risk to humans. The bacteria will grow if people touch raw seafood such as oysters. A person with no cuts or sores can pick up the bacteria.”
“Doc, after I study the article, I’ll rush to send more data. We needed to find a cure.”
“Brad, unsanitized needles have complicated the problem further. There must be a link between water and human tissue. I am going to continue to search for the answer. If you find new data, call me.”
“Sophia, you have found a definitive cure. Do you remember you found a treatment in Israel with a team of scientists to use a leukemia drug called asparaginase last year?”
“Yes, you are correct. The drug could prevent the bacteria Vibrio vulnificus from spreading in the human blood. I can use high doses of antibiotics can stop the infection. But if the antibiotic dosage fails, only surgical removal of the dead tissue and amputating limbs will stop the spread, leaving the victim mutilated for life.”
