“And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.” (James 3:6, NLT)
When one thinks of fire, you think of the physical property of a blazing fierily gas that burns very hot and if you see blue that is the hottest part of the fire. So how does fire in a man come about? This is one of the questions I will dwell on doing our journey into what is Fire in Man.
Why does Man return to the earth as ashes which are the final stage before dust? Why does the pastor repeat the phrase “ashes to ashes and dust to dust” at a funeral? Adam was made from adamah meaning earth, or land in the Hebrew translation. Genesis 3:19, (NIV) states, “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” Also, Ecclesiastes 12:7, (TLV) says, “Then the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
Were we ever “fire” in our flesh, before we became flesh? The answer to this question is “yes”, in a spiritual perspective we are born out of a fire. Almighty God our Creator is a flaming consuming fire. Elohim breathed His breath of fire into Adams’ lungs, and the cold clay body became “hot” with blood, and Adam began to breathe the breath of Life through his body. This proves that we are made “hot” in a spiritual sense from fire known as (esh – אש) in the Hebrew language.
