In the Bible, a poor woman named Anna waited years for the Messiah Jesus to come to the earth. After her husband’s death, she lived in the temple and was 84 years old when Joseph and Mary brought their son to the temple for his circumcision. Luke 2:36-38 tells the story of Anna.
As we celebrate Christmas, my excitement to enjoy the music, smells of food, and decorations mounts. This year’s difference is the family connection since we are in a plague and unable to visit our loved ones, making this holiday difficult. So many families have lost loved ones, jobs, and hope. Yet Christmas is the time of year when miracles occur, and as a Christian, I have adopted the attitude to be hopeful and joyful. We must surround others this Christmas who are suffering from anxiety and loss.
Let’s be doers and people who have compassion for others, love those who are not lovable, and forgive people for whatever they have said or done in this crazy year of COVID-19. Read pages 86-87 of the book, Just the Edge of God, and be inspired this holiday season. Chag Sameach, Happy Kwanza, and Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

JUST THE EDGE OF GOD
In Luke 2: 36-38, MSG “Anna the prophetess was also there, a daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher. She was by now a very old woman. She had been married seven years and a widow for eighty-four. She never left the Temple area, worshiping night and day with her fasting’s and prayers. At the very time Simeon was praying, she showed up, broke into an anthem of praise to God, and talked about the child to all who were waiting expectantly for the freeing of Jerusalem.”
