A clang in the distance caused her to jerk and sit up straight; she felt her timepiece and pressed it. The clock on the wall said 7:00 a.m., not Wednesday, but Friday. She squinted her eyes as she noticed Nina busy with messages. And wondered what happened? And why Nina’s delay in waking her for work?
Her head and arm throbbed with agonizing pain; she was in big trouble. Did someone issue a death threat to her life? She scanned the room. Everything looked the same. Then she saw it. A camera device affixed to her ceiling. Geez, she needed to contact the office and let them know her whereabouts.
“Nina, please call my work.”
“Master reprogrammed my circuits.”
“What do you mean? Can you make the call?”
“Do you need me?”
Becky turned around and faced Nina as the assistant gazed at her. “What is wrong with you, Nina? Who is the Master? You’re not answering me?”
“No data on Master. Do you need me?”
“No! Becky stomps toward the kitchen to grab a coffee cup. Send messages!”
As the hologram focused, Peter Alcorn popped up on the screen.
“Where have you been? What happened to you? You look awful?”
