The Pain of Exclusion

Ouch! that hurt. Or does it? I find that the pain of non-belonging, rejection and exclusion is universal. We feel the pain like physical pain. Yet as with many kinds of pain, tolerance levels differ by persons. Some are able to brush it off and move on to the next interactions. Others like some of the Moms of teenaged aged children interviewed in various parenting groups vividly described the hurt and pain from rejection of them and their children, even when it occurred so long ago.
