It will help with some practical information about stress, its causes, managing stress, and how to recognise signs of stress in yourself and in others. It can be read right through or picked up and used to help and support when needed. There are helpful tips and relaxation techniques and all the case studies are real life examples, but the names have been changed to protect their identity. Being Positive and Happier

Being positive helps your overall health and wellbeing. When you know or work with anyone who is negative can lead to issues within the workplace. If you know someone like this, then it is useful to say to turn it to a positive which can be alien to them. Such as 'I can try and do this' instead of saying 'this is the way it has always been done'. Watching the London Olympics on TV there was a runner who came last and his comment was 'I have taken a positive from the experience as my time had improved from previous times'. It does take practice but it helps in a huge way.

Bullying is not acceptable

Many people do not realise that they are being bullied or they are in fact bullying themselves. It is so often the covert and insidious ways people speak to each other which is totally unacceptable in any workplace. It is unfortunately still prevalent within the workplace and is not just managers but peers and upward bullying. I have an example of upward bullying in the book as well as a nurse from Rwanda which almost brought tears to my eyes at how in a caring profession they think it is okay to treat another professional in this way..

What you should know about stress

I have found that many people do not realise that they are under stress until it gets to the unmanageable stage. I enjoy training on how to identify stress early and be able to manage stress before it becomes a long-term condition.

Worrying about small things

I carry out regular training sessions and it is amazing how many people worry about things that are out of their control. I always say it is best to focus on what you can control. It is amazing the impact this can have and how powerful and positive for attendees. Why get stressed about things we cannot control.

One small change

One small change can make a huge change in anyone's life. Often we do not wish to make a change because of fear or frightened someone might think we are being selfish. It is essential that you are fit and healthy to have a good relationship and to be able to work and have a good lifestyle. Diary in a change each week or as often as you wish and see how it makes you feel.
