Hometown Love (Love on the North Shore Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,497 ratings

Neither was looking for love.

Everyone in North Salem thinks they know Jessie Quinn. She is the town’s quintessential girl next door. The woman you can always turn to when you need a helping hand. Nobody knows that she’s spent years overcoming the emotional scars left by her last boyfriend.

As a single dad and task force officer with the FBI, Mack Ellsbury moves back to North Salem to be closer to his family, not to find love. Then Jessie Quinn returns to his life. Soon Mack no longer sees Jessie as the quiet girl he once tutored in high school but rather the woman he is falling in love with.

Mack’s love helps Jessie erase the scars she’s carried around for so long, but when his ex-wife decides she wants reconciliation, their relationship is put in jeopardy.

Hometown Love is the second book in USA Today Best Selling Author Christina Tetreault’s Love On The North Shore Series. While it can easily be read as a standalone story, you'll likely enjoy reading the other books, too.

Jessie Quinn runs her grandparent's hardware store and she is everyone's idea of the girl next door. She is generous and is always willing to help people out. She has a secret though that only a few know, not even her friends know and it is what keeps her from dating. She has spent the last year putting herself back together.

FBI agent Mack Ellsbury has moved back to his hometown with his adorable daughter Sophie. He wants to raise Sophie here near her grandparents and her Aunt, Uncle, and cousin. Mack and Jessie begin a romance but his ex-wife and Jessie's insecurities may be more than they can overcome.

I really enjoyed this story and Sophie steals the scenes she is in. Jessie's character is very relatable and I could identify with her struggles. Mack is an awesome single parent and he loves his daughter. Ms. Tetreault writes a good story with characters that stay with you long after the story is over.

Small town living where everyone knows everyone and news travels fast. Mack had lived in this small town and had moved away but now that he was divorced and raising a daughter, returning to the small town where family and friends remained, was what he wanted for his daughter. Figuring he would never remarry and raise his daughter alone, he never expected to meet up with the girl he once tutored in High school, Jessie. Jessie was always doing for others and was sweet as they came but over the years she also grew into a curvaceous woman who soon stole his heart.

Her books are so wonderfully written and the love and emotions that are shared by the characters in her books are hot hot hot!!! This is a wonderful series and I cannot wait until book 3 in this series is published. Christina never disappoints. I've loved Christina Tetreault's writing since I read her first book The Teacher's Billionaire years ago, and Hometown Love was another hit out of the park for me! We met Jessie Quinn way back in The Billionaire Playboy, so I absolutely loved seeing her character develop and who she turned into. Mack is such an amazing dad, and I adored the scenes with him and his daughter. There's so much to love about this book and not one thing I would change. If you've read Tetreault's books before, this one is just as amazing, if not more, than her others. If you haven't, then this is a great one to try a new author.

I loved this story! The pace of this story was absolutely perfect. So many times in romance stories, two people meet and within days they are in the throes of passion, without even knowing anything about the other person. To me; that is so unrealistic. So....I especially liked the way this romance slowly built out of friendship first, before becoming more on the romance side. And the fact that they knew each other since childhood, made this story seem more real to me.

I loved the way Jesse and Grace hit it off, since day one, and their closeness slowly grew and grew. IMO- Mack is such an amazing dad, and I adored the scenes with him and his daughter. Actually the three of them were perfect together.

This book has all the romance and fairytale endings a reader could want. But, it also has true life. Love is messy and life doesn’t to as planned. A true life story with a happy HEA makes for a good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A BIT CLICHE', BUT SWEET NONE-THE-LESS!!!
Reviewed in Canada on September 22, 2018
This was a really sweet book about the hot guy finally seeing the pretty and "real" chick, after sowing his oats. As you can guess, a bit cliche', but sweet none-the-less. I also liked that it was the guy that was the responsible parent.

What was a bit too unbelievable was when Jessie stopped communicating and Mack had no idea why. His ex had been hitting on him all weekend in front of her and was staying at his house. This isn't brain surgery and sorry, no one is that brainless. Jessie also caught them kissing, not once but twice. Even though he said "she kissed him," there is something wrong with that. Then he lets his ex spend next weekend at his house, yet appears to think that is fine.

Yeah, I confess that whole ex "thing" played out oddly to me, that and Jessie and Mack's responses to it. Jessie accepts it out of "trust?" and Mack's nonchalance. I don't think either response is viable or realistic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Christina

Another great read from Christina. Jessie and Mack are definitely not what I expected from them. Loved how Jessie is so helpful and can’t turn down anyone who needs help so when Mack asks if she could help paint his little girls Grace’s room she gets more than what she bargains for especially since she’s had a secret crush on him from when they were at school. Mack is such a caring loving father and he definitely deserves Jessie in his life after the witch (putting it mildly) of an ex-wife he has never read a character that’s so self-centred than she. Can’t wait to read more from this series

This was a good read. It was well written and interesting. The setting was perfect too.

The characters were interesting and three dimensional. The plot had a good pace to it.
