- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2024I loved this series….it was a new author for me and I was impressed with how well it was written. The characters feel Real. The females have a sense of worth and I appreciated that. It was a fun beach read and I’m on to the next one in the series. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2018This was a very good second chance romance as Lauren is reunited with her high school sweetheart Nate. She thinks she's moved on until she sees him again then she begins to question everything. Definitely a Book I recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2013Lauren McDonald's best friend is Callie who is married to Billionaire Dylan Talbot. They have been friend forever. She meets Billionaire CEO Kevin Walsh at a fundraiser put on my her best friend Callie. She think she finally has met a man to fill the void the love of her life has left the void in her life. Her childhood sweetheart broker her heart when he joined the Marines after High School and broke off with her. The trouble was she really didn't love Kevin but he was comfortable enough and they did have fun together. Then came the time for her mother to retire from her work. It was to be a surprise party but her Mother got wind of it and had invited her old High School sweetheart Nate to come. He had returned a Major from active duty and took a job with the FBI and station with the Reserves there in the Boston office to be near Lauren to fight for her back..Soooooo The fight for her begins there at the party, emotionally speaking on Lauren's part.. Lauren struggles between what if safe and sound but has no love to what is filled with love, but can her heart take another break up "if" it is riddle with the what if's?. This book is soooooo good, As always she lets us keep up with the happenings of the other characters from the past books, so we keep up with their lives as well. I can't wait to see where book 5 takes us, the Sherbrookes of Newport is a family you love and admire. Anxious to read her new series as well. Well done Christina!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2015This book like the preceding three in the Sherbrookes series has a believable story line and great depth in the characters.
It is also consistent with the number of grammar errors. The most glaring is the number of sentences that she began with the conjunction "And"· Many times the sentence should have been added to the previous sentence to form a connecting thought and a compound sentence. If you remove the "And" conjunction and the thought forms a complete sentence with a subject, verb , and predicate then the sentence stands alone without the "And." She also needs to be careful of ending sentences with a bare preposition instead of a prepositional phrase. It is too bad her proof reader or editor are not catching these errors. The errors take her rating down at least two stars.
Suggest she buy software grammar check to elevate her work to higher levels.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2016This book shows how childhood memories grow into adulthood real life situations. The book shows the difference in rich and famous lifestyles and just ordinary real love. She was in love in school and when she got out he left for the marines without discussing it with her. Years later he returns to find her with someone else and still very upset with him. After he tried to apologize he realized he had made a big mistake. She was with someone rich but really not in love. He had to take it slow and let her know how much he loved her and money can't buy love. This book was excellent in holding your interest and kept you in suspense waiting for the real love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2013I so enjoyed this book 4 in "The Sherbrookes of Newport" series. Even though I had a few tense moments while reading it, it was a very enjoyable read. It is always fun to visit with Callie, Dylan, Charlie, Jake, Sara and Christopher and see what's happening.
I am glad that Lauren got her book and that she and Nate were able to work their problems out.
If you have read the other books of the series you won't be disappointed in this one.
I had a few problems with the book that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 overall it's a good book and can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great story
I love this writer. I’ve read one other book from her and can’t wait for the next one. The story had lots of ups and downs, built-in tension, moans and groans from the audience, great characterization, and lots of action. I loved it. I look forward to reading it again in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars boring at times
Its very tepid when compared to the other books in the series. The first 60% is all about descriptions and thoughts rather than usual scenes and conversations. boring at times.....only after that it begins moving but that too in a slow pace and not much interesting either.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a great book
This is Calli's best friend Lauren's story, Lauren never truely got over her broken heart from her first true love Nate (Nathaniel) when he joins the marines never to return then she ends up with 2 men asking for her hand in marriage, one a business arrangement and one for Love, which will she choose ? lots of twist and turns in this book, i also loved how we still got to visit the characters from the other 4 books in the series and got to meet new ones too, another great book Christina

3.0 out of 5 stars Good.
Good book in the series, but not as great as the others. The story was told from the point of view of all the main characters (Lauren as well as the two men who were after her), but it was clear which man she would end up with. This means I didn't need to have to story told from the point of the view of the person who would not end up with her, it seemed to be unimportant, in the end.
