This book is part of "The Sherbrookes of Newport" Series and is the sequel to "The Teacher's Billionaire".

The setting is New England in a picturesque and charming bed and breakfast run by the heroine's family in North Salem. The story starts out with a hurricane as Navy Dr. Charlie (Charlotte) O'Brien escorts her mother down to the basement of their home for safety. In the aftermath of the hurricane, Charlie sets out to rescue victims of the storm and aid her neighborhood in putting their lives back together. During the clean up, Charlie encounters Jake Sherbrooke, the Billionaire Playboy. Jake has a wild reputation with women and is a celebrity due to his family, his money and his attractiveness (think John F. Kennedy, Jr. here). Jake Sherbrooke has come to assess the damage from the storm and offer financial aid through his foundation to the victims for rebuilding their homes.

Jake has had a lot to live up to as a member of the Sherbrooke family. Added to that is the fact that his father is the President of the U.S. and you can see why Jake's life is very complicated. Jake arrives on the scene and encounters a feisty redhead in the form of Navy Dr. Charlie O'Brien. He's intrigued by her and also a little put off by her abrupt demeanor. He rents a room at her mother's B & B (where Charlie also lives at present) and he helps the town put their world to rights again. He digs in with both hands, physically helping the residents with rescue and cleanup, surprising Charlie, who has written him off as a wealthy playboy and a man of leisure. Charlie finds it hard to trust Jake's intentions when they start to fall in love. Jake has had women swooning at his feet due to his celebrity status for years. As the couple gets closer his past reputation catches up with Jake and threatens their chances at a happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this sequel to The Teacher's Billionaire. Both main characters were well developed with deep internal conflicts that were believable and compelling. Charlie is a very likeable heroine who readers will easily identify with, she's a professional woman who has struggled to make it in a man's world. She's also woman who has experienced a broken heart and thus has learned to protect herself and not look for `true love'. Jake is a noble, endearing hero. He's had a bad reputation via the media, but not everything the media has painted about him is true. He has had a constant struggle to make people believe that and give him a chance. Also, his famous family has pressured him constantly to follow his father's footsteps in the political arena, and he has done his best to resist and follow his own dreams, but not without problems.

This book was wonderful to read. I savored every moment. Even the side characters were interesting. The added appeal to this well written sequel is the wedding of Dylan and Callie (the couple from book one) at the Sherbrooke Mansion. We get to revisit the Sherbrooke family once again. This book has a wide appeal, as it brings the fantasy of a charming and handsome billionaire meeting you in your home town and falling in love with you. It's a storybook romance that is well written, entertaining, and very compelling to read. I highly recommend it.

Legendary playboy Jake Sherbrooke is called Prince Charming by the media. He arrives in North Salem, Massachusetts with one thing in mind. He wants to help the town recover from a devastating hurricane. Once there, he meets Charlotte "Charlie" O'Brien, a doctor in the U S Navy, and he cannot help but be attracted to her. She has spent her life avoiding love. Charlie returns to her home in North Salem to visit her family and make an important decision about her future. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has other plans. A hurricane strikes, flooding the town and throwing Jake in Charlie's path. Initially, she believes Jake is nothing more than a wealthy playboy. She soon learns that he is much more. Soon neither can ignore the incredible chemistry between them. We will learn if a relationship between a billionaire playboy and a woman afraid to let any man get too close survive his reputation. -- Jake is wonderful - kind, giving, intelligent, mannerly, and dependable. Charlotte is kind, intelligent, independent, and distrusting. I loved the story until Jake and Charlotte had a disagreement. Jake's actions did not go along with previous actions. I cannot say more without giving away what happened. In any event, I hate the way the author wrote that. Otherwise, I would have given this a five-star rating.

Charlie joined the Navy to be able to go to college. She became a doctor and stayed. While home visiting her mother a storm devastated their small town. When Jake shows up with people from his nonprofit to help Charlie knowing his reputation in the press expects him to be there for a photo opp and leave. Instead he works like all the rest and proves to be invaluable. Charlie has issues with men because her father left them when she was little. She has never let herself have a serious relationship. As she interacts with Jake she begins to have feelings that make her rethink her dating policy. Jake is intrigued by Charlie then learns she is a doctor and Naval officer and understands why she is the one taking charge in the recovery effort.

Charlie has trouble with men and Jake is trying to get her to see him as someone other than the playboy image the press projects. It was a sweet story with good characters and lots of interplay with friends and family making it more interesting. I will read more in this series.

I loved the first so had no hesitations in downloading this one yet again I was surprised at how much I loved it. I'm not a romantic fiction person but I love this series.

The story is so different to the first but Jake is an excellent character as is Charlie, its not hard to guess the guy will get the girl but its great to see the developments in the story.

I was desperate for 3 to come out after I read this in October 2012. No 3 has now been read !

Another enjoyable read. I am going through the whole series, and now feel part of the family! Jake is such a likeable character, even in bk 1 (Jakes brother Dylons story) Not too much detail in the bedroom scenes in any of the books I have read so far, but just enough to get the tension, emotion and atmosphere for the reader perked up and rearing to go. A good lesson here, is not to judge a book by its cover... people too. Well worth a read.

An enjoyable second book in the series. It was pleasant to read, if a tad short. It was interesting to see the family story continue in this second book.

(A sidenote: The perfectionist in me is annoyed at the typos here and there (esp. punctuation errors), but there aren't too many compared to some other books I've read.)
