The Courage To Love (Love On The North Shore Book 1) Kindle Edition
Eighteen years ago Sean became the man of the house when his father walked out on the family. Now the co-owner of a successful bed and breakfast, Sean has accepted his position in life—until the day Mia Troy checks in.
When Hollywood sweetheart, Mia Troy, checks into the Victorian Rose, the only things on her mind are rest and relaxation before she begins work on her new movie in Boston. That is until she meets Sean O’Brien, the co-owner of the bed and breakfast. From the moment she checks in, Mia is drawn to Sean, a reserved man who sees past her celebrity status.
Despite his better judgment, Sean can’t ignore his physical attraction to Mia. Soon he gives into his desire, telling himself all she wants is a quick fling to pass the time. As they spend time together, his feelings grow. But can love between a small town guy and an A-list celebrity ever last?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2014I LOVED THIS STORY. I had a hard time putting the book down long enough to do anything. For a number of reasons, it just took me in. The hero is a quite type, devoting his life to helping his mother after his father walks out and abandons them. Graduating from high school he has a full football scholarship to the Univ. of Florida (go Gators!!) but he has to give it up because his mother and younger sister need him. His hate for his father is strong. He robbed him of his chance at a life of his own.
The heroine is a very famous movie star. She is really not what the typical Hollywood star is all about. She has just finished one movie and she has another project starting in a month so she takes the time to relax at a B&B in Mass. where hopefully no one knows her and will give her this time to herself.
She is attracted to him from the very first and he knows she is very out of his league but sparks fly anyway. Their story is a great one. The old saying, "Nothing is as it seems" is certainly true in this case. One never sees their parents as young, sexual beings but at one time they were. They also make bad decisions and choices. sometimes the results of those choices change lives almost forever. This story has some secrets that are surprising. There is also forgiveness and understanding but most of all a great romance between the H&h. I loved it. Great read and very entertaining. I will probably visit the North Shore again to catch up with some of the other characters when their stories are told. Highly recommend this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2016The Courage to Change
When your life isn’t going exactly how you planned, you must have the courage to make changes. Mia and Sean – the main characters of this story – both stuggle with their lives being so different from their childhood plans. But when they meet, they slowly gain the courage to make some necessary changes. Can they gain the courage to love also though?
When Opposites Attract
Mia is a famous actress and has been since she was ten. She misses small town life though. In between movies, she decides to vacation at a bed and breakfast in small town North Salem, Massachusetts. When she meets Sean – the co-owner of the B&B – she is instantly attracted to him and the way he treats her like she’s a normal person. It’s exactly what she needs in her life.
Sean has wanted to expand his life from his small town upbringing in North Salem for as long as he can remember. However, he has sacrificed a lot for a family that needed him to be the man of the house. When Mia steps into his B&B though, he quickly realizes she isn’t the typical A-list celebrity that stays at his recently famous establishment. She’s a breath of fresh air with her advice and encouragement to open his life to new things.
Reviewer’s Thoughts
I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a romance set in a small town. It shows you that love can find you anywhere. This story was very sweet and a quick read perfect for a summer vacation. Mia and Sean are complete opposites, but it’s clear to see why they work. They balance each other out in ways they never thought possible. A lot of people have commented on Sean being an underdeveloped character. However, I think they are lacking perspective. Sean isn’t a totally boring character if you have been in his shoes in any way shape or form. If you can put yourself in his shoes and see what it’s like to feel shut out from a potentially great life because of other life obligations, you really see his arc. I actually became really attached to his character and I think if you see him from that perspective – which is also Mia’s perspective – you will too. All of these characters were well formed and really bring life to the setting and story.
One note I’d like to make is that this book had a lot of typos. I loved the story, but it really puts a damper on things when you start pinpointing typo after typo after typo. This book needed a lot of cosmetic editing that I feel like it didn’t get. The errors were rare in the beginning, but by time I’d reached the final 25% or so of the book, I kept stumbling on them in what seemed like every other paragraph.
Overall, this is a great story and there’s so much to be learnt from all the characters. I love that there were so many subplots that kept the story moving and I hope to find this pattern in the rest of Christina’s books as I progress in the series. Due to the major typos, I’m giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this book to anyone 16+ who enjoys sweet contemporary romances.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2014This is such a sweet addition to the Love on the North Shore series of books with Charlie Sherbrooke' s brother Sean and Mia, the movie star. Sean helped his mother Maureen run the bed and breakfast by doing all the repairs that needed to be done with renovations to various rooms too. He had done this ever since his mom started renting out rooms to make a living since his father walked out on them. He gave up his dream of playing football with a scholarship he earned to help his mom out and gave up his dreams of having his college paid for. He did complete college on his own time and just earned his master's degree. He did what was expected of him to put food on the table because his sister left when she joined the military service to get her medical degree and was now married and a doctor. Life just wasn't what he expected it to be but he accepted the inevitable. Mia was on a break in between films and Dr died to rent a room at the bed and breakfast which caught her eye on the internet. She never expected that one of the owners would be such a hunk and felt an immediate attraction to him. Sean was aloof but polite because he did not want to jeopardize the inns reputation after business was so good because his sister married a Sherbrooke. The sparks between were so strong that Mia was determined to draw him out of his shell. He was a real person and she felt like a normal person without having to be made up and glamorous. His walls came tumbling down under her spell because she really cared for him but he knew she was leaving so this was a short term relationship. Could she make this work as a long distance relationship and would he want it too? Circumstances happen that force him to reevaluate his life and could he do what he really wanted to do with his life after all. In the end they find their happily ever after but not until he is faced with almost losing Mia permanently. It was a fabulous book and I am looking forward to Jessica's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely heartwarming book
Heartwarming love story about Hollywood sweetheart Mia who needs a break from filming. She stays in North Salem where she meets the gorgeous Sean who runs the local B&B with his Ma.
Each of them has their flaws. Sean treats Mia like a normal everyday girl not a Hollywood star. His has deep set emotions and they seem like an unlikely couple.
This is a stand alone read and looking forward to reading more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
I love when love conquers bitterness and disappointment. When Mia decided to take some down time from her acting career, she picked the perfect B & B. The owner's son, Sean, was interesting right from the beginning. The story leads you through some small town events and family gatherings.
Enjoyable book but it ended rather abruptly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Foreplay, but no bedroom scenes
This is the first time I’ve read Christina Tetreault’s work & is the first book in the North Shore Series, but it is linked to the author’s other series (the Sherbrookes of Newport). This book contains a couple of swear words, & could do with a further edit, although I only noticed 2 typos. There are several scenes of foreplay, but the actual “deed” is omitted, so not a completely clean read.
Actress Mia Troy is the “sexiest woman” of America & on the face of magazine covers. She travels to North Shore for a rest & to visit her family. She checks into the Victorian Rose, a B & B run by Sean & his mother. The two are attracted to each other, but they’re so different. Sean shouldn’t be dating the guests, but what’s the harm in a little fling, especially with one as beautiful & willing as Mia?
I liked Mia, although one could say she was “too perfect”. Sean, not so much. He was quite uptight, coming across as being overprotective at times & irrationally jealous at other times. The other characters in the book sound interesting & the excerpt from book 2 is about Jessie/ Jessica, but also features Mia & Sean. I hope the author has a book about Tony, the friend who is looking to score with the girls, rather than love.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars for a heartwarming romance
This a heartwarming, emotional romance. Both Sean and Mia are a bit lost when they first meet and the author does a good job of drawing the reader into their connection, making you feel invested in their relationship and the trials they need to overcome. Relatively clean, the heat factor is very mild
