About the author

William D. Richards was born and raised in New England. The love of writing bit at an early age, but it wasn't until later in life he indulged in the dream of writing for a career. He describes himself as, "A writer of tales, rider of motorcycles, paddler of kayaks."

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2024I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and can't wait to read the second. The story is very interesting, and well written. I especially liked that there were not twists within twists within twists. There was more than enough story to keep me interested and wanting more. Definitely recommending to anyone
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2013I know the author. That made me a bit concerned about reading his first novel. I am glad that I didn't listen to myself. Bill Richards has created a wonderful and complex world with all kinds of interesting characters and situations. If you Iike the genre then I urge you to give this book a try. I know I can't wait for the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2014I loved the main character, Nem. I loved the magic system, which has rules about energy usage and the dangers of magic. Basically, it draws on your life force and you can kill yourself using it, so you tap into the life force of plants, animals, etc. or wait until your batteries recharge. Dragons are played up as the most powerful creatures in this setting, and the main character has a deep association with them. Of course, he has a quest and a magic sword, but there are also pirates, cannons, and seers.
The plot is good and the action is at a nice clip. I enjoyed it greatly and highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2017Well, what can I say? This was a great read. I didn't have many expectations before reading the book. I read a few reviews and thought I would give it a chance. It is a great read. The characters are fun and plot is something that you can follow, but there are still some twists and turns throughout.
If you are looking for the "next" book to read, I would suggest buying this and giving it a chance.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2017A very entertaining story . The magic system is clearly well developed . The characters are growing up and are changing mentally . The story keeps stringing you along. I am looking forward to the next book
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2017Nobody is one of those under-the-radar fantasy books you always want to discover. I admit to being skeptical and less than impressed by the opening prologue. But with a deft touch, the author weaved a mesmerizing tale of bravery and adventure starring a humble, no-name protagonist with a mysterious past. In "Nobody," the author combines the perfect blend of mystery, action, and intrigue. The result is a fantastic fantasy YA book for readers young and old alike.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2017Nice story ,good characters. I like that the protagonist is strong , not suffering and whining . Probably I will buy book two after the third is out (There was a cliffhanger warning about book two and I hate those . Not fair to the reader.)
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2014This was a solid read and established an interesting world base upon which to expand. The only thing I would have liked is if the main character had maintained his mystery a little more and not revealed his back story so early in what I hope is a longer series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
I am not a fan of having multiple povs, I just cant get invested in more than 2 or 3 characters. But I actually enjoyed most if the povs here. I only activeley skipped Ervins 4 or so chapters in arow. Otherwise this was a very enjoyable book.

Witty; a fun-to-read page tunner with strong characters. Loved the hints at the book title throughout the book. Highly recommended!
