I don't want to spoil the read for anyone who is thinking of making the purchase, but I'll try to still review it from a place that gives you a good feel for what I felt after reading it. I normally would eat the pages of a book like this, and by like this, I mean, a page turner. Everyone who has family can relate to this story, and I'm not saying all parts, but maybe, and definitely some part of it. Once the author introduces us to the characters we'll be following, you become attached. It took me longer than it would have normally to (eat the pages) complete the book, due to family issues, again, a connection to this book, but I found it a great read to relax with, in the midst of my own things.

I feel that you will definitely enjoy it, so much so, that you will be waiting on the author to give us the next book. I was already wondering what the next book will give us, and again, to not spoil the read, I'll just end by saying, my emotions were certainly stirred, my heart tugged at, some tears shed, but a peace that I feel you can only gain once you know what to hold on to, and what has to be released.

Thank you for your time in reading my review, and I hope you have, or had, a beautiful day. If you are struggling with anything, find someone to lean (talk to or confide in) on, don't be too proud to do that, and know that we're going to make it, because we want to.

Ms. Wade, thank you so much for sharing your gifts!!!!!!!

The author has developed the characters of this book quite well. You will quickly find yourself rejoicing and grieving with them through each triumph and loss. I found myself relating to the main character more than I expected. We are such fragile creatures and yet full of a great potential to love and to be loved, despite our struggles. The faith of the characters warmed my heart and I could see myself in their familiar family dialogues.

For those readers who have grown up in or around Detroit, you will find a particular treat in the locations that are chosen for the setting of this book. The author has clearly spent some time in the area and/or has done the research to place the characters in locally historically significant locations. Meaning, those locations that cannot be discovered through an internet search engine, but are vivid and heartwarming to those familiar with the area and its history.

I highly suggest this book. The format is welcoming and the book will take you through emotional surges as you experience Ivy Lee's life through her eyes with its various internal and external conflicts, the great love of her family that keeps her grounded, and the anchor of her unwavering faith.
