About this ebook

“With a number one record and a little fanbase of my own, I was on top of the world… and then I wasn’t."

Fresh out of high school and ready to focus on her true passion, teen rapper Monroe Westbrook is eager to step out of her famous siblings’ shadows and prove that she’s a star in her own right. Her lyrics are dope, her name is hot, and she’ll do whatever it takes to ride that wave.

All she needs now is the support of Tailyn, the big sister who doesn’t think Monroe is ready for the gritty details of fame. Tailyn’s longtime rival sees Monroe’s boundless potential, though, and is ready to capitalize on it, forcing Monroe to face the biggest decision of her young life. When she makes her choice, tensions are high, but the smoke does clear, and Monroe can focus on staying on top of the charts and fanning the flames of her kindling romance.

That is, of course, until the first body drops…

About the author

Desaree Jones is a 22-year-old novelist who has been writing for over a decade. She created SLWM Pub in 2019 after a search for black protagonists in fantasy and mystery novels written by black authors didn't return as many results as she would have liked. Frustrated by the lack of representation, she decided to create her own company and produce what she and many others were looking for.

Her debut urban novel, Deeper Than Rap, will be released in June 2021, and her first fantasy project, Heavy, is slated for early 2022. Easthaven Heights is a web serial available exclusively for readers on her mailing list. You can sign up for the newsletter and read the opening chapters of all three projects at reewritesbooks.com.

With too many ideas and too short of an attention span, Desaree often finds herself cycling through story concepts faster than she can pen them, but her loyal readers always applaud her for her rich characterization and compelling content.
