5.0 out of 5 stars This book will help you comprehend more fully God's deep and tender love for you.
This book was written by a Christian woman who has been walking closely with God for many years. I found it helpful to see how the author's relationship with God has deepened through meditating on Scripture and through prayer. Many of her insights into God's tender love and compassion have personally been an encouragement to me. I have also bought copies as gifts for family members and friends in the hopes that the book will likewise help them in their walk with God.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2020Leoma Gilley has given a road map to listening to God's voice in the midst of our very challenging times. She outlines how to do the ancient practice of Lectio Divina (divine reading of Scripture) with guided meditations and with invitations to listen to what God might be saying to each of us. It's a beautiful offering for such a time as this.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021Leoma’s thoughts and insights come in short bursts, but with great spiritual depth. I find they are best read slowly and with moments to reflect and consider “what is God saying to me through His Word and through my friend?”
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2020"The Still Small Voice of Love" reminds me of reading "Jesus Calling," only we are asked to take action by contemplating and writing down how the text impacts us. This makes the text come alive in new and meaningful ways.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020I remember a conversation I had with the author way back in the mid 1980s. Ms Gilley (to me, Leoma) and I were co-workers with a Christian mission in Sudan. She had shared with me the card file system she used for regularly praying for many people. I expressed skepticism about such a seemingly unimpassioned rote way of praying for people. She responded that at least she was doing something in an attempt to nurture her relationship with God and with her contacts. Perfection wasn't the aim, but rather action according to what she knew to be true and right.
I see God at work on this theme throughout "The Still Small Voice of Love". During a period of time when Gilley had to set aside her goals and pursuits to care for her aging mother, she writes of God meeting her with his loving encouragement to just, "be". God took her through the loss of much of what had given her life a purpose. Love is the hallmark of the way God chooses to interact with Gilley in this very personal account of a time of deep reflection and little personal achievement.
During this current (July 2020) COVID-19 pandemic, this book may not have come at a more opportune time with so many people feeling cut off from so much of what gives their life meaning and joy. One may gain some new or different perspectives on how God sees them, what he expects from them, and how much he loves them through it all.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2020Once again Leoma calls us to meditate on God's Word... with the Holy Spirit's guidance and quality time. Slow down, read slowly, expect Holy Spirit direction and listen with your heart, mind and spirit. Thank you ♥️

5.0 out of 5 stars A guide for deeper reflection into the Bible
Just recently got this book. Having glanced through it and gone through a few ‘studies’ it is very helpful to sit quiet, not rush, and let God’s word sink in. The format is simple for anyone to follow and allow the Lord to speak.
