About the author
Miriam Verbeek was born to Dutch parents in Bandung, Indonesia in 1954 and migrated to Australia as a child. As a young adult, she traveled extensively throughout Australia and Europe then settled to the life of an academic, mother, partner, homemaker, and advocate for environmental and humanitarian causes – the latter earning her positions on a number of government advisory committees.
