4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 671 ratings

Following the deaths of her brother and then her parents, Kelsey Bancroft put her life and dreams on hold. Three years later, Kelsey is still struggling financially to hold on to the last links she has to her family. She doesn’t need or want any distractions, especially not any distractions named Drew McKenzie. At the age of ten, Kelsey fell in love and decided someday she’d marry Drew, her older brother’s best friend. Although Kelsey long ago abandoned the silly fantasy, Drew has always occupied a special place in her heart.

The day before Ian Bancroft lost his battle with cancer, star quarterback Drew McKenzie promised his best friend he’d look out for his younger sister. Until recently, he assumed his monthly phone calls to Kelsey were enough. Now that he knows differently, he’s moved back to North Salem, determined help Kelsey whether she wants his assistance or not. But just how far will Drew go to keep a promise to his best friend?

Just finished another book in the Love on the North Shore Series. With one more to go. The feeling you get how this group of friends really care about each and the two main characters the love and emotions they have when they finally let it out. What a great story that was shared. It lets you forget you troubles and just get lost in what lines ahead. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Happy Summer Reading!

When I see this author's name I know it will be a good book. Easy 4 star! Publisher provides a good description of the set-up with her childhood (continuing) crush and early loss of her brother and now both parents. Typical in this setup, coming back as an adult he has a different perspective which opens the path for their love story.

Christina Tetreault does not disappoint with A Promise to Keep, the 5th book in the Love on the North Shore series. Set in small-town North Salem, this is the story of Kelsey Bancroft and Drew McKenzie, Kelsey a middle-school teacher struggling to make ends meet after the deaths of her parents and brother; Drew a NFL playing quarterback who made a promise to Kelsey's dying brother to look after her.
Their attraction towards one another is evident after Drew visits his hometown for a wedding and hence follows a lovely story of promises, friendship and love.
I enjoyed revisiting the characters of old, and love this little town full of friendly souls. Ms Tetreault shows her passion for writing with well-developed storylines and characters and I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This book could stand alone, however I feel to gain the most enjoyment out of it, it is best read in order of books 1-5.

A Promise To Keep is the story about Drew and Kelsey. Drew made a promise to Ian, Kelsey’s brother and Drew’s best friend, to watch out for her, once he lost his battle with cancer. Will Kelsey accept Drew’s help or will she continue to tell him she’s fine? What will happen when Kelsey learns of the secrets Drew is keeping? Grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with small town and the people who live there.

A very nice wholesome small town love story between a famous quarterback and a teacher who known each other since they were kids. A simple promise to his dying best friend to take care of his sister back fired but in the end their love prevailed. HEA is absolutely perfect.

A nice sweet story.... of a brother's best friend and best friend's little sister.

Liked both the lead characters and the people of North Salem.

Would stop the series now though....the writer seems hell-bent of expanding the series by introducing more and more characters around the central characters of the first story....which is getting a bit old by now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Christina

Another great read from Christina. Wow Kelsey and Drew's story was really complex I would say, although with Drew promise to Ian (Kelsey’s brother who died and his best friend) was at the forefront of his decisions he really went to the extreme when his feelings for Kelsey came out. Kelsey, although having the most difficult time emotionally and financially I thought she took Drew’s intrusion by his monthly phone calls a bit to much, I know she has feeling for him as well I found it ridiculous how she reacted to it, if it was me I’d be thankful someone was caring enough to think about me after what she had gone through (maybe its just me thinking that) but overall it’s a great story I did love Drew’s character though and it was good to catch up with the feast of North Salem can’t wait to read more from this series
