Reviews

"As riveting as the first! Adventure, love, betrayal... it kept me hooked from beginning to end. Can't wait to read the conclusion to this trilogy. It's a must read!" Elizabeth M. VaLey

"Best cardio workout in a while and all from the comfort of my chair! Amy Braun takes no prisoners, no shortcuts and spares no sensitive constitutions as blood is spilled, death is delivered and even the smells of battle will fill your senses. Steampunk meets Science Fiction meets Dark Fantasy and the results are explosive!" Tome Tender

"I loved that Claire unlike most female heroines - not all but most - she isn't a damsel in distress. She faces many different kinds of trails throughout both books but her one weaknesses is she cares too much she can't sacrifice anyone except herself." Jodie "Bookish" Cook

I forgot what number book this was that I've read by Amy but I've said this before and will do so again: One thing, out of the many, that I can count on to be in Amy's books is absolute brutality. She doesn't make her characters take the easy way out and it's something that doesn't fail to impress me. This book starts right in the middle of the action and the roller coaster doesn't let up.
This is the second book in the Dark Sky series and we follow another strong heroine. It's something Amy is no stranger to. Our heroine is trying to amend her parent's mistakes while also trying to save herself and her sister from demise. I swear, my respect for our heroine, Claire, just keeps growing, especially in this installment. She is badass, smart, headstrong, and will go through great lengths in order to ensure her loved one's safety.
As amazing as our main character is, I am seriously falling for our side characters too. I mean, I fell for Sawyer the minute I met him but that's beside the point. I just really love how Gemma and Nash's dynamic is something I can always count on. They found love, each other, and have stuck together through thick and thin. Well, mostly thick, considering the gruesome chaos Earth is in. Their relationship is the rock in the story, at least for me.
I really, really, want to talk about Sawyer and all my thoughts that went through while witnessing his actions but I can't without giving away spoilers. So I'll just mention that I am so proud of him for doing what he did almost at the end. AHHH!! It made me shed tears and it made me cheer out loud for him. After that, I want the third book in my hands already!!! I only ever wanted him to be happy and he needs to cut it out and listen to me- I mean Claire.
At certain points the story was slightly predictable but it was still interesting to see the plot line play out. BUT, there was a certain part of the story that I thought I had pegged from the very beginning but it turned out that yes, I was right, but I was also very wrong. And because of that, I grew to pity a character I was never a fan of. It makes my heart hurt just thinking about it.
I can't wait to see what other situations Claire gets into and engineers her way out of. (Pun intended) Also, I NEED those short stories like yesterday!!! Especially Sawyer's.

Another excellent steampunk novel by Amy Braun!! This is the second book in the Dark Sky series but is so well written it can stand alone. I enjoyed reading about my favorite characters Claire and Sawyer. There is more drama, secrets, betrayal and excitement!! I found it very hard to put this book down and could not wait to turn the next page!! The ending (cliff hanger) actually made me gasp and give out a yell!! I already have the next book Obsidian Sky in the series on it's way and I can not wait to see how this story unfolds and what happens to Claire!!! OMG!! it is always the sign of an excellent book when you can not put it down and an hardly wait to see what happens next!! This book does not disappoint, grab it read the whole series!! Loved it!

Claire’s quest continues and it has grown and have become even more clouded with secrets, betrayals, sacrifices and a possible triangle that could change more than what should be changed. Here we are back at the fight to make a wrong right again or at least make it better. Young Claire has her hands full with all that must be done to put the world back on a path cleared for the human race.

I found more drama, more action, more deceit, more betrayals, more secrets, just more. I was pulled in and wanting to know what was next. I turned each page excited to find what was held within.

Claire continues to move forward in life and make the decisions that need to be made to move them on to the next big step. Along the way she has to contend with her sister and a promise to her mother. There are outside forces working against her and her rag-tag group of misfits.

This time around I focused in on all the secondary character that were there before and newly introduced. I found more to be held captive by. Claire was most certainly a strong-willed, abled body female. She did what it took to do what needed to be done. I am looking forward to where things go to next and how the overall plot connects, grow, and conclude.

Here we go again! Claire is back in Midnight Sky, the second book in the Dark Sky series.

It seems the danger has resolved and now Claire can focus on her sister, Abby. But, there are consequences of her actions to save her sister and Riley. Vesper, the baddie, is telepathic and that means bad news. Claire is also facing some uncomfortable rivalries, secrets and must find a machine her parents created that could be the answer to defeating the Hellions.

This one ends on a cliff-hanger! I kind of yelled (or maybe growled) when I reached the end knowing I have to wait until the next book to find out what happens. However, that is a sure sign of a great book.

Grab this one! You won't regret it.

Once again, Amy Braun did not disappoint; a wonderful addition to Crimson Sky, the first book. This book is well written to allow for optimum suspense. My favorite characters were back and better than before. I loved how the drama and romance are thrown into the story at just the right time. Overall, the story was great. I should add that even though this is part of a series it reads alone excellently.  Another 4 Boundless stars book from Braun....Beth
