Puppy Love… for adults.
Drew is closed off and sad, walking the dogs as atonement for failing his ex-boyfriend. Or, at least he thought that was it. He had twisted his loss and guilt by blaming his former life for the loss of Steven. Kyle seemed to be a reminder of that life. Drew was inserted into Kyle’s life because Kyle was dog-sitting for his sick sister. The two men seem barely to tolerate each other until Kyle’s true nature began to appear with the addition of Benjamin, his 5 year old nephew, again to help his sick sister. Benjamin joined the walks with Drew and became fast friends. Kyle and Drew slowly became acquainted and friendly. The more Drew saw Kyle open up with his nephew, the more his icy persona melted away into a caring brother and uncle. I worried about the fledgling relationship when Kyle’s ex-boyfriends seem to undermine Drew’s confidence in Kyle’s affection. The story ends well. Issues are still there, but the road to a solid relationship is clearly mapped. I couldn’t help by feel good about their chances of success!
