The conclusion to a medical crisis on Earth in a trilogy that introduces a new universe of adventures. Specialists from spaceship Chiron are working with alien scientists while furtively aiding a secret science society on the planet. However, that shortcut to solving Earth’s problem could endanger their relationship with planetary officials. Meanwhile, Chiron deals with aliens on nearby planets to gain more information and goodwill as they solve some of the neighbourhood’s problems. Armed with new information, they meet back at their new home base, but soon find their relationship with the planet’s government strained. Desperate to gain back the trust and aid of the innovative aliens, the crew of Chiron find themselves involved in interplanetary conflict as they strive to produce a vaccine to send home to Earth.
My fiction writing brings together years of science studies, work in heath care, and training and assistant teaching as a black belt in karate. After reading stacks of science fiction in my youth, I was inspired by space adventures such as Star Trek and medical thrillers by Dr. Robin Cook. Before publishing Earth and Beyond, I had articles on art and science fiction published in print and on-line magazines and served as editor for a newsletter/magazine for several years. Selling fantasy art and approved paintings and products related to the Canadian Musical Ride prepared me for doing some graphic design for fellow visual artists and for my own novel cover and ads.
In my town in New Brunswick, Canada, I run a writing group, am a literacy volunteer at school, and enjoys gardening, creative cooking, yoga, photography, kicking back to good movies and shows, and, of course, my family.
My new electric car (not a Tesla!) can almost drive itself. It can use a camera and radar to space itself out on the highway, stay in the lane…I figure in the future a flying pod on an alien planet would be able to fly on autopilot . Do we want to depend on a machine to fly us? Should we trust them?
Enjoy this tiny excerpt from the trilogy finale that opens a universe of further adventures.

Shoot for Earth: MedSci Missions 3
Scott relaxed as his autopilot lifted his pod away and displayed the route on the GPS. Since he wasn’t looking forward to meeting with Jinar, he let his mind wander to Savna. It was so easy to slip into a reverie of memory and imagined moments. Suddenly, he became aware that they had passed over the main city and were headed for the hilly, rocky bush. “Hey!” he said out loud. “Where are we going?” “Following the course you set,” a cockpit translator told him. “No, you’re not!” “I will land at a safe location for a reset,” the autopilot said. “Turn around!” Scott said. “Turning.” Scott relaxed slightly, until Mr. Auto added, “Landing in a clearing.” “No, just take us back to the city and land on a regular landing strip!” Scott could see why some people wanted the new Living Machine strand so badly, for the AI computers. “Sorry, action already taking place. It would be unsafe to comply with your current request.” Scott cursed, and sat back for the ride. He got out his own Pocod to see if he could figure out where he should go from the landing site. He recorded the surroundings as best he could, and tried to get a direction to hike if he should have to. The landing was soft, he had to admit. The pod was skillfully set into a small clearing in a large forest. The door slid open invitingly, so Scott stepped out to have a look around. It was a mistake. The door slid shut behind him. He could discern the autopilot’s voice saying, “Reset complete.” In disbelief, Scott stared open-mouthed as his pod took off without him.
