Shoot for Earth: MedSci Missions 3

A cold fear ran through Karen. She hoped her face wasn’t visibly white. It could be; it felt like all the blood had suddenly rushed from it. The place was probably the hidden center for SciSoc. Jinar was on to it! Worse, Scott had been seen going there! This was bad. Very bad.
With a strange, scratchy voice, Karen said carefully, “So my scientist went where other scientists have gone.”
Wanva’s tail waved a bit faster and farther in suspicion. “The question is why? Why pause working in his lab to go to such a remote location? Why are any of them going to what seems like a hidden gathering place?”
Avoiding the question, Karen asked, “Is Jinar taking steps to investigate further?”
“Yes, some of Petmar’s prots are moving in now, to a rocky cliff several paths seem to lead to.”
Karen felt sick. All her hunger had left, and she dropped the fork she had picked up.
Wanva’s tail froze as she swivelled her gaze to stare intently at Karen’s face.
Mustering all her strength, Karen said, “It should be interesting to see what he finds.” Interesting, indeed, she thought grimly.
