Savna looked up from her review of Earth literature, waving her tail a bit excitedly. “This is an interesting one,” she said, “called ‘An Astronaut’s Song’.” She read out what she’d found.
.
The view from Earth amazed me,
With marbled swirls of paint.
I counted one, two, three,
And breathed away my faint.
Then I saw that darkness, foggy, and deep,
With toxins to make one gasp,
Could put humans forever to sleep,
Leaving only the cockroach and the asp.
We people might be fools,
But if we reach forward every day;
Use new, inventive tools,
The next generations won’t have to pay.
“The bari on my planet went through something like that too,” Savna said. “The Councillor for Planetary Planning set out guidelines for buildings. Now they all have greenery on roofs, balconies, and often climbing up them.”
Scott nodded. “Yes, my people noticed. Good idea!”
