Galatians 5:22
Part of the fruit of the Spirit is love.
Dear Heavenly Father
I come to You a bit shaken today. This world's cruelty has done a number on me again. Jesus was absolutely right when He said I'd have trouble in this world. Please hold me tightly again. Thank You for not hesitating to do that. Fold me in Your arms.
I feel Your mercies being renewed in me like a morning sunrise. The warmth is penetrating my very soul. You are so much better that any earthly father I ever encountered. You're the best. Surround me in Your love.
I begin to partake of what's known as the fruit of the Spirit today. This fruit has many layers to it. Each delectable bite will bring me even closer to You in our relationship. Draw me into Your heart.
I just completed a journey perceiving the many facets of this first layer: love. If I could stop here is seems as though that would be enough, but life is much more complicated than that. I require every bite of this fruit from You. It seems this first sweet bite would cover all the ingredients. Build me with Your wisdom.
My sinful nature won't allow me to express Your love as it should be done. Help me dive into each layer to become more like Jesus. Use me to inform others of Your ultimate love for all mankind. Remind me of my responsibility.
Your sacrifice of becoming one of us and dying in our place is so incredible, yet so You. If I fail to tell others it would be like a beggar finding an abandoned delivery truck full of food and refusing to let anybody else know about it. That's not love that's greed. Break me for Your service.
Break through my stubborn heart to reach out in love to everybody I meet. Stretch me out of my comfort zone to become Jesus to the least of these, my brothers. Love is the attribute we all long for, yet so few receive. Use me to show You.
Jesus even told me to reach out to my very enemies in love. I need the power of Your Holy Spirit to live that out. Help me break through the barriers I've erected as self-protection. Let me replicate Your hug for me as I hug those who truly need it, too. Reflect You in my life.
It's in the glorious name of the ever-loving Jesus I pray. AMEN
