Magical Powers
Kari and Kris walked home thinking about Fanta, Sprite, and Willy. Was it just a coincidence that the cats next door had names that Honker mentioned before they left the house, or did he have some kind of special powers. He was, indeed, an unusual cat and could do many things other cats could not do, but this was the most unusual thing he had ever done.
“Kris, do you remember when we studied Egypt in Mr. Muldoon’s World History class?” Kari asked. “I think he told us that the Egyptian cats were believed to be magical creatures, capable of bringing luck to people who housed them.”
“I do remember that. They had a spiritual importance, were sacred, and I also remember the part about magical powers,” Kris said.
“Do you think Little Honker has some kind of magical powers? I mean how did he know there would be cats moving in next door with the names Fanta, Sprite, and Willy?” Kari asked. “It seems like he can sense some future things.”
“I know. He also told us about Fanta moving in next door when we didn’t even know the house had been sold,” Kris said. “This is just too weird!”
