“Willy and I are rescue cats. He doesn’t talk about his life before they found him. He was pretty sick and it took a long time before he became healthy. Lots of vet visits and special food. We met at FUR the Love of Paws FURcility. I was pregnant. He has always been protective of us, but you never talk about his past. I think it must have been pretty bad. He just wants to forget it.”
“I got it. What’s a recue cat? What is a FURcility?” Warren asked.
“The FUR the Love of Paws FURcility is a place for animals to stay and get healthy until they can find a forever home,” Sprite explained.
“I’ve never heard of that. I’ve always lived here with my family,” Warren said.
“You’re lucky. But, we are lucky too. The caregivers named me Sprite and I had six babies that they named after sodas. Willy has always been protective of us,” Sprite said. “All of the caregivers at the FURcility took amazing care of all of us.”
“That’s great. What happened to your other babies?” Warren asked.
“They all found forever homes and are very happy. RC and Squirt were adopted together by a great family who needed them. I’m so happy for them. Fresca and Shasta also found a forever home together with a loving family. Surge was adopted separately because the family adopted another cat from the FURcility the year before. We were excited when the three of us were adopted together. We became a family in the FURcility and a very nice couple decided we should stay together and brought us all to live with them next to you,” Sprite said. “We were lucky again.”
“Welcome to our neighborhood,” Warren said.
