Then Warren noticed Willy’s tail. It was a stub of a tail, not the usual cat tail. “Hey, what happened to your tail?” Warren asked.
“None of your business!” Willy hissed. He started to puff his fur and was ready to jump on Little Honker when Sprite reached over and placed a paw on his head.
“Willy and I are rescue cats. He doesn’t talk about his life before they found him. He was pretty sick and it took a long time before he became healthy. Lots of vet visits and special food. We met at FUR the Love of Paws FURcility. I was pregnant. He has always been protective of us, but you never talk about his past. I think it must have been pretty bad. He just wants to forget it.”
“I got it. What’s a recue cat? What is a FURcility?” Warren asked.
“The FUR the Love of Paws FURcility is a place for animals to stay and get healthy until they can find a forever home,” Sprite explained.
“I’ve never heard of that. I’ve always lived here with my family,” Warren said.
“You’re lucky. But, we are lucky too. The caregivers named me Sprite and I had six babies that they named after sodas. Willy has always been protective of us,” Sprite said. “All of the caregivers at the FURcility took amazing care of all of us.”
