Happy honks came out loud and clear from little Warren. “I am excited about this.”
“Every band needs drums, but I think we are going to have to improvise,” said Kris. “We will have to find something that would be like a drum or perhaps more than one drum.”
“I know,” began Kari. “Remember those two buckets in the garage? I think we could turn those upside down, and they might work like kettle-drums. But, what could we use as snare drums?”
“How about turning over a few pots and pans?” suggested Kris.
By this time Warren was so excited that he could hardly contain himself. He was jumping on and off the couch, twirling around the living room, and then giving several loud honks to celebrate. “This will be so much fun,” he honked.
“Bands should have a guitar,” suggested Kari. She turned to Kris. “Do you remember that guitar Dad used to play? I think it is in the basement store-room.”
“Right. How would that work?” Kris asked. “The cats can’t hold it.”
“But, it could be flat on the floor, and the cat could play the strings with its claws. I’m pretty sure that would work.”
Even Kari and Kris were getting excited now about helping their little honker put his band together. From the time he was a kitten and they discovered his unique voice, they had affectionately called him Little Honker.
“I had no idea that music would be this important to you when we were practicing our duet,” Kari said to Little Honker.
“I agree,” Kris said. “I loved it when I was practicing the saxophone and you were swinging your tail to the beat of the music.”
“Honk. Honk. Honk.” Warren was over-the-top excited. His band idea was becoming a reality. “Team-work. We are a good team,” he honked.
