Blessing our food before we eat has so many benefits. We are reminded that God is the benefactor of so much and that He is a generous God. It is an honor to bow our heads to express our gratitude to Him. I find that when I am at home, sitting quietly at the kitchen table, I readily bless and give thanks to God for my food. However, some mornings when I am driving to work and partaking of my bacon and egg sandwich, I have to slow down and stop eating to say a word of thanks to God for breaking my fast. Of course, I keep my eyes on the road! It is also important that we teach our children to say grace for the many bountiful provisions He provides us, even when we are on the road.
