Saving Suzie Q turned out to be a very emotional journey for me. God used her rescue to take me down to some deep feelings that were unresolved in my life–sadness. Since she was a breeder girl, I realized that she had a much boxed life. She had no personality of her own; she was an empty shell. She didn’t know about treats, regular food, a car ride, a yard or freedom of any kind. She crawled under beds, furniture or anything she could hide under; when you called her, she curled up and tried to hide. She did not bark.
Suzie’s lack of personality and fear took me to a place I had never gone before, and I cried for her and myself (as I found out) for three days. I realized that this time around, God had me rescue myself. You see, I was abused for 20 years
