“No one wins until everyone wins.”—Bruce Springsteen
You might think of a winning family as having a trophy case, poolside parties, fabulous vacations, political connections and Ivy League educations. But none of these things matter. To my mom, the original author of this book, a winning family is not defined by externals—although success may be a side-effect. In a family where love can truly be experienced without limits, parents use common warm practices that make everyone feel like they belong. My mom taught audiences of hundreds, sometimes thousands of parents and care-givers about turning their own pain into power. Her work gave a generation of parents fresh inspiration and real tools to teach their kids to feel worthy and strong. Behind every great man, they say, is a great woman. I’m pretty sure that’s true for great women, too. I have had the great fortune, in my life, of helping her fulfill her mission of making a real difference in the world.
