Rusher, Max, and Aspen set out to the river. Max was still tired from their overnight adventure but was gathering new energy as her mission now had a purpose. She knew she was an important part of the plan since she had been here before with her grandfather. They made their way through the thick woods from Rusher’s house toward the river where Brody and Emma landed the day before.
“Rusher,” Max said, “what exactly happened when Grandpa and I left here last time? For me, that was a few years ago.”
“That is so weird, Max, because, for me, you were just here two months ago,” Rusher said.
“Time travel is really strange,” Max said. “I never would have imagined this would work out the way it did.”
“What do you mean?” Rusher asked.
“Well, there is something that Emma and Brody don’t know about me,” Max said.
