“Want a coffee?” Jack asked.
Charlie mumbled, “Yes, please, and a cookie if there is one.” Jack giggled and headed to the kitchen. He was a bit tired from all the work they just did, but he felt extremely proud. As he entered the kitchen, he could hear humming. Peeking around the corner, he saw Julie. It was nice to see her so relaxed. She was like the mother bird always trying to take care of everyone, and he knew she carried everyone’s stress inside.
Sneaking into the kitchen, he filled two cups with coffee. Julie turned around fast, “Oh, you startled me.”
Jack giggled, “I didn’t mean to. I was trying not to disturb you.”
Julie grabbed one of the cups. “Is this for Charlie? If so, she needs cream and sugar in it. Oh, and I made you guys a sandwich.”
Jack smiled, “Thanks. Oh, and she wants cookies with her coffee. Are there any?” Julie reached into the cupboard and pulled out some cookies. Placing a few on the plate, she smiled. Jack went out the door but not without turning around just in time to see Julie humming and dancing once again.
