WOMEN AND STUDENT LOAN DEBT
Since the 1990s, almost 60% of U.S. undergraduates have been women, and more women are pursuing advanced degrees than ever before.10 This translates to more opportunity but to more debt, as women hold two-thirds of student- loan debt. Proposals to cancel a set dollar amount, as opposed to a percentage, of college debt discriminate against women, who have more student debt. This affects women across demographics as two-thirds of millennials have some kind of postsecondary training.
