Six months after the trial, I begin to enjoy my new life. Every day I visit my young charges at their homes. Though I don’t mention the Bible, it’s hard to escape the Christian message when reading English literature, so I’m content with my work. I attend the Danish Church now. Officially it’s St. Olave’s Church after the man who built it, but Baptist missionaries conduct the services. To add to the irony, it looks like St. Andrew’s and is in the Diocese of Calcutta. The members don’t seem to mind much about my case.
My adversary prowls around Calcutta awaiting the result of my appeal. Perhaps he’ll gift me with another anna.
