I ask Your Lordship to rule a verdict on Miss Pigot’s behalf.”
Gasper listens to Miss Pigot’s man with absolute stillness. At this point the worst charges have nothing to do with my alleged libel, but I don’t think the judge is clever enough to pick through the details. He strikes me as a man who goes with his impressions, and Gasper played that to the hilt.
